yes, they are. roaches were for a while, but I think now people move to drosophila, because it already has its genome sequenced. there's a lot of nice work on how roaches neurons are connected. for example - how they sense movement and run in the opposite direction.

yes, it is true (at least I try to be). I study insect behavior.
How funny! I have a degree in Physics, and deeply interested in neural networks. I was told insects are a rich field of reserach for this subject.
